Beryllium is the chemical element with the symbol Be and atomic number 4. It is a relatively rare element in the universe. As a free element it is a steel-gray, strong, lightweight and brittle metal. It's melting point is 2348.6 F (1287 C) and it's boiling point is 4479.8 F (2471 C). It is nonmagnetic, a very good conductor of heat and resists oxidation in air at room temperature.
