The heat of an object is measured by it's thermal energy. Heat energy is measured on an absolute scale (It can't go lower than zero because there is a limit to how slow particles can move.) This energy is measured in joules.

Heat in particles Edit

When a substances is heated, its particles gain kinetic energy. In a solid, these particles will then begin to vibrate. In gases and liquids they will move around faster.
