The amount of available kinetic energy (KE) depends on the objects mass and speed. The greater it's mass and the faster it's going, the bigger the KE will be.
Calculating kinetic energy[]
The equation for kinetic energy is KE = ½ mv2
An example of calculating KE is:
A car has a mass of 1500kg and it is going at an average of 15 m/s
What is it's KE?
KE = ½ mv2
KE = ½ x 1500 x 15²
KE = 750 x 225
KE = 168750
